VALUABLE LIVES, MEANINGLESS DEATHS
As I come to know what the system is, I implement strategies to avoid the worst of what it has to offer. Thanks to Howard Zinn's A People's History of American Empire and the Engines of Domination documentary, I have a much clearer picture and ideas to circumvent the motives, strategies, and tactics of the establishment.
Today, I am thinking about what Memorial Day is exactly and what it means. Here is my version. Here is how I view it. Here is how I live it:
Individuals died fighting. Now, some of these individuals discovered the truth of why they were in other people's lands. They discovered what they were really fighting for was the freedom of corporations and rich families to do as they please, including steal other people's stuff for profit - profit is that empty in substance to the typical person.
It was noted by the individual, in his final moments, that his valuable life was taken, and that a meaningless death has occurred. His ghost has been lurking ever since looking for someone to tell his story. His wishes are for people to grasp the the truth, to understand the implications, and to avoid repeating history.
His ghost is now looking at me as I type this. He gives me the thumbs up.
... And that is the legacy of the Ghost of Memorial Day.
